Sketching in Vermont

As an artist I spend many hours sketching, something I’m still weak at, playing with ideas for paintings I’d like to create. Most of these little sketches are from  locations in Brandon Vermont, my second love, the beach is always #1.

This sketch is a value study I did while sitting on my all terrain vehicle in an open field. I used 3 different gray markers  to create the value changes.

These show how majestic the mountains are in Vermont. By having the buildings tucked in below, to add scale, showing the different sizes between the two objects.

What have you sketched lately?  Sketching helps us see the world around us in better detail.  Go take a close look at the view from your window and sketch what you see, have a good time.
