Winter Gold

With the snow constantly falling here in the NorthEast the view from my window is filled with many shades of grays.

It’s like living in a black & white photo. Snow covered white ground and charcoal gray skies with a variety of  silver, slate & granite colors everywhere I look.

But nature still provides me with a hint of color hidden within the smokey neutrals of the winter landscape.

From a distance the wheat & straw colors show against the drab backdrop.

Blonde grasses standing tall above the deep snow,  shinning like pure gold when the sun shins on them.

The caramel colors of a half buried wooden garden wall add color to the landscape.

Nature may be fierce during the winter months  but her gentleness shines through, you only need to take the time to find her glowing warmth.

I’m intrigued by the mix of these cool grays & summery golds.

I will combine them in a few loose paintings and see how they compliment each other.

Will they play nice together?

I think they will.
